Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith says information suggests that the 2 individuals discovered dead in the wheel well of an aircraft in Fort Lauderdale in the United States are not Jamaican.

She gave the update in a social media post this morning.

There were speculations that the deceased discovered in a JetBlue aircraft on Monday night were Jamaican due to the plane’s route.

JetBlue said the plane first departed Kingston at 1:10 AM and landed in New York before 7 AM.

It made two other stops before concluding its day in Fort Lauderdale.

In light of the speculations the foreign affairs ministry conducted an investigation, which revealed that the deceased are not Jamaican.

Mrs. Johnson Smith noted however that the ministry is awaiting formal reports as investigations continue.
