Grenadian Kirani James conferred with honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from UWI
London Olympic 400 meters champion Grenadian Kirani James was on the weekend conferred with an honorary Doctor of Laws (lld) degree from the University of the West Indies global campus, in recognition of his excellence in Athletics.
The event was conducted via a virtual graduation ceremony, under the patronage of her excellency Dame Cécile La Grenade, Governor General of Grenada.
James a renowned 400 meters runner who secured gold medals at the 2022 World Championships in South korea and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, won gold at the Carifta Games in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010, as well as breaking Usain Bolt’s Under 20 400metres record back in 2009.
Internationally, he also won gold in the 400meters at the Commonwealth Youth Games 2007 and earned silver at both the World Youth Championships 2007 and the World Junior Championships 2008.
