Minister Grange regrets Sting postponement-looks forward to new date
Entertainment Minister Olivia Grange says she continues to be in dialogue with the Sting team and looks forward to the new date for the staging of Sting 2024
Dubbed “the greatest one-night reggae and dancehall show on earth,” Sting, announced a postponement of the Boxing Day event mere hours before it was scheduled to get underway
Minister Grange commented in a statement today, stating that this year, her ministry did its best to work through the issues with the promoters of Sting, inclusive of having high-level meetings with the team to provide guidance on logistics and promotion of the brand.
She says her ministry also provided the venue and set up support for the launch of Sting, as well as providing for the hosting at Jamworld Entertainment Centre in Portmore, St Catherine.
Minister Grange says she has also publicly endorsed the show in furtherance of the ministry’s commitment to the industry and in addition, her ministry had earmarked sponsorship support to defray some of the expenses of the event.
The Entertainment Minister says it is, therefore, regrettable that due to other issues, Sting 2024 had to be postponed.
A ministry statement says Sting has been the main platform for showcasing dancehall artistes over the years as well as playing its part in launching and building many careers.
