NCB urges customers to use block/unblock feature to protect their debit and credit cards amid uptick in fraud cases
Amid a recent surge in fraud cases, National Commercial Bank (NCB) customers are being urged to block their cards when they are not in use to prevent fraudsters from accessing their accounts.
The advice was given by the bank’s Executive Vice President for Retail Banking, Sheree Martin, at a recent cyber security forum.
Recently, NCB customers have lost millions of dollars to organized fraud schemes.
Ms. Martin noted that cybercrime is at an all-time high, making online protection more critical than ever.
She said data collected by NCB on its customers showed an increase in phishing, smishing, and account rentals.
The Executive explained that cyber-criminals are constantly finding innovative ways to exploit vulnerabilities, especially during the holiday season.
Ms. Martin noted that the bank recently launched the block / unblock option which gives customers greater control over their debit and credit cards.
