Curfew in Enfield, St. Mary extended for 2 days

The restriction was initially set to end today but will continue until Wednesday, at 6 PM.
The boundaries of the curfew cover Dry River Bridge, Top Enfield, Enfield main road, Fort Stewart, and May River.
Acting head of the division, Deputy Superintendent Anthony Wallace said the extension is to facilitate ongoing efforts by the authorities to stabilize the area in response to ongoing gang conflicts that have resulted in robberies, shootings, and murders.
The Enfield area accounts for nine of the 26 murders recorded in St. Mary this year, necessitating sustained police intervention to restore safety and rebuild community trust.
DSP Wallace assured residents that the police remain committed to addressing their concerns and restoring peace to the community.
