348 persons killed in crashes since the start of the year
Atleast 348 persons have died on the nations roads since the start of the year.
This follows fatal crashes in St Catherine and Manchester yesterday.
In the latest incident at about 1:30 A.M., 36-year-old Michael McDonald of Wheelersfield District, Golden Grove, St. Thomas died from injuries he sustained in a crash along the Hellshire main road.
Reports from the Portmore Police are that at about 1:30 A.M., McDonald was driving a motorcar and reportedly lost control of the vehicle and collided into a tree to the side of the roadway.
Citizens alerted the police, who on arrival, helped McDonald and the accompanying passenger out of the vehicle.
Both were assisted to the hospital, where McDonald later succumbed to his injuries.
And in the other incident along the Caledonia Road, Mandeville, Manchester an unidentified man died from injuries he sustained.
Reports from the Mandeville police are that at about 12:32 A.M., the unidentified man was travelling along the roadway on a motorcycle.
On reaching a section of the roadway, he collided with the driver of an Isuzu motor truck that was travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the motorcycle sustained multiple injuries and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
