One of the men who escaped from the Barnett Street Police Station lockup in St. James yesterday was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with police in Valley Heights, St. James.

The deceased is Edgar Spence, of Hill District in the parish.

The search continues for the remaining escapees: Fidel Ferguson of Mountain View in Greenwood; Daniel McIntosh of Peddlars Lane in Mount Salem; Maurice Belnavis of Green Paradise in Norwood, all in St. James; and Tyrese Brown of Albert Town in Trelawny.

Police believe the men escaped the facility between 5:00 and 6:00 A.M. yesterday.
