A manhunt is underway for five detainees who escaped from the Barnett Street police lockup in St. James this morning.

They are Edgar Spence of Hill District, Tidell Ferguson of Mountain View in Greenwood, Daniel McIntosh of Peddlars Lane in Mount Salem and Maurice Belnavis of Green Paradise in Norwood all in St. James.

Tyrese Brown of Albert Town in Trelawny also escaped.

Police believe that the men escaped between 5 and 6 A.M.

It is unclear how the men escaped the lockup.
