Acting Head of the Area Four Police, Senior Superintendent, Michael Phipps has welcomed the State of Emergency, SOE declared in sections of St. Andrew.

The SOE is in effect for the St. Andrew South Police division and sections of the St. Andrew Central Police division.

It follows a significant increase in violent criminal activities, particularly in communities such as Maxfield Avenue, Waterhouse and Waltham Park Road, where 5 people were shot and killed last Monday.

Speaking with reporters today, SSP Phipps said the measure will help to curb criminal activities.
