The driver who fled the scene, following this morning’s deadly crash along the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon, has been arrested.

He was nabbed by police in relation to the incident, which claimed the lives of 12-year-old Richard Tulloch, of Turner’s District, Chapelton, and 16-year-old Jody-Ann Lodge, of New Bowens District, both in Clarendon.

Reports are that about 8:30 A.M., the man was driving a Subaru Impreza motor car along the highway towards Four Paths, when he lost control of the vehicle which collided with an Isuzu motor truck.

The collision resulted in the motor truck overturning and crashing into a Toyota Probox motor car.

Five injured persons were taken to hospital where Richard and Jody-Ann were pronounced dead.

The others were admitted for treatment.

One student is said to be in critical condition.

The driver of the Subaru Impreza motorcar reportedly fled the scene of the crash.

Head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB), Assistant Commissioner of Police Gary McKenzie, said the driver was apprehended at the Norman Manley International Airport while allegedly attempting to flee the country.
