Alana Reid named International U20 Female Athlete of the Year by Athletics Weekly
Jamaican sprinter Alana Reid has been named International Under 20 Female Athlete of the Year by respected track and field magazine Athletics Weekly.
The former Hydel standout was awarded after her achievements on the global stage in 2024 where she ran 11.17 seconds to win gold in the women’s 100 meter event at the World Athletics Under 20 Championships in Lima, Peru in August before returning to anchor Jamaica’s team to gold in the women’s 4x100m relay final.
The 19 year old Reid also ran the lead-off leg on the senior Jamaica women’s 4x100m relay team that took fifth place at the Olympic Games in Paris.
With her accomplishments on the track resulting in her rise as a standout figure in Jamaican athletics, Reid in October signed a sponsorship deal with fast food giant Burger King Jamaica to become a brand ambassador that includes public appearances and involvement in sports development initiatives such as clinics and the Burger King 5K.
