West Indies pace trio move up on ICC Rankings

The West Indies’ fast-bowling trio Jayden Seales, Kemar Roach and Alzarri Joseph have all made positive gains on the latest ICC Rankings for Test Bowlers following their performance in first Test victory against Bangladesh in Antigua.

Seales picked up 5 for 87, Roach finished with 4 for 50 and Joseph bagged figures of 5 for 101 for a combined 14 wickets to hand West Indies a comprehensive 201-run win at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium and a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

For his efforts Seales moved up three spots up to 11th, Roach went up four places up to 17th with Joseph now ranked 29th after moving up three places.

Another Windies pacer Shamar Joseph is 49th after taking 2 wickets in the Antigua Test and is just behind spinner Jomel Warrican (no.48) while Jason Holder who missed the series as he continues rehabilitation for a shoulder injury is at no.31.

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, meanwhile, is back as the No. 1 Test bowler and has also achieved his career-best rating of 883 in the ICC rankings. Bumrah, whose 5 for 30 in the first innings of the Test skittled Australia out for 104, went past South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood, with Ravichandran Ashwin and Prabath Jayasuriya rounding out the top 5 places.
