Tourism minister assures that issues that led hotel workers to strike will be resolved

Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett has sought to assure that issues that led to several strikes by hotel workers in recent weeks will be resolved.

His comments follow reports of protest action yesterday by workers at 2 St. Ann based resorts.

Workers at the Jewel Paradise Cove and Bahia Prinicipe in Runaway Bay called for better wages and working conditions, among other things.

Their strike comes in the wake of similar action taken by workers at Excellence Oyster Bay in Trelawny, Iberostar, Secrets and Breathless resorts in St. James and Royalton Negril in Westmoreland.

Responding to queries from Irie F M News yesterday, Mr. Bartlett stressed that the industry is strong and resilient.

He said while money is a factor, the main concern is labour market arrangements.
