UTECH workers hoping to see retroactive payments today, after reported glitch caused delay
Several workers at the University of Technology (UTECH) have expressed disappointment, following another delay in the payment of retroactive salaries owed to them.
They were slated to receive payments yesterday, but it is reported that a system glitch prevented the salaries from being distributed.
The long-awaited payments would represent the first major result, following protracted discussions over the government’s compensation review process.
Speaking with Irie FM news last night, president of Utech’s Academic Staff Union, Dr. Clavery Allen said the payroll department will be working overnight to ensure that the salaries are ready early today.
Meanwhile, president of Utech’s Administrative Staff Association, (UTASA) Jeanette Grayson said if the salaries are not distributed early, she will seek a meeting with management for answers.
