PIOJ projects negative outlook for Jamaica this fiscal year
The Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) is projecting a negative outlook for Jamaica for this fiscal year.
The negative outlook is due to the effects of Hurricane Beryl and other weather related events on the country over the past few months.
PIOJ Director General, Dr Wayne Henry outlined the issue yesterday, at a press briefing.
Dr Henry pointed out that loss associated with Hurricane Beryl amount to over $32 billion.
He said most industries except for agriculture, are expected to record growth in the coming months.
Dr Henry said the economy will contract for the remainder of this fiscal year.
