St. James police appeal to residents to desist from mounting road blocks following protests today
The St. James Police are maintaining a presence in sections of the parish to prevent the remounting of blockades along some roadways, following demonstrations this morning.
Upset residents of Dumfries, Adelphi, Unity Hall, Reading, Moyall and Somerton used debris and downed trees to block the roadways.
They were protesting over poor road conditions
Head of the St James Police Superintendent Eron Samuels said lawmen, with assistance from fire fighters and other state agents cleared the blockades earlier today.
He is appealing to residents to desist from blocking roadways, as it causes major inconvenience to commuters, especially school children.
Superintendent Samuels is also appealing for residents to be patient, as repair work is already underway on some of the roads they protested about.
