St. James Fire Department recommends enforcing the use of regulated electricity by vendors at Old Shoe Market in Montego Bay
The St. James Fire Department is recommending that the use of regulated electricity by vendors at the old shoe market in Montego Bay, be enforced.
The suggestion comes in the wake of multiple fires at the market.
Fire Investigator Oniel Kerr, said the 3 most recent fires at the market were due to illegal electrical connections and poorly constructed shops.
Mr. Kerr said it is important that a regulated supply of electricity be provided.
He also suggested that smoke detectors be installed at the market.
He was speaking during yesterday’s meeting of the St. James Municipal Corporation.
