Labour Ministry to meet with staff and management of Secrets Resorts, again tomorrow, following protest about wages

Officers from the Labour Ministry are to meet with the staff and management of Secrets Resorts in Montego Bay, St. James tomorrow, to further discuss solutions to issues affecting workers.

This after some 100 disgruntled employees of the hotel protested this morning.

The workers are calling for increased wages among other things.

Following the protest, Labour Ministry officers met with management and staff this afternoon to provide workers with an opportunity to ventilate their concerns.

Labour Minister, Pearnel Charles Junior says those discussions will continue on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M.

Meantime, Senior Advisor and Strategist in the Tourism Ministry, Delano Seiveright says the protest has largely come to an end.

He says the resort has committed to ensuring that staff get two days off per week and Christmas bonuses among other benefits.
