Scores of workers at Secrets and Breathless Resorts stage protest demanding higher wages
Scores of workers at Secrets and Breathless resorts in Montego Bay St. James staged a protest this morning, calling for increased wages.
The placard-bearing workers converged at the entrance of the compound as they chanted “no raise, no work”.
In the meantime, Opposition Spokesperson on Tourism Janice Allen stressed the importance of tourism workers to Jamaica noting that the employees’ concerns must be addressed.
This morning’s protest follows a similar one at the Royalton Hotel in Negril Westmoreland last month, when staff demanding better working conditions and increased wages, stayed off the job.
The ministries of tourism and labour intervened which saw the implementation of some measures to address the workers’ concerns.
