Inaugural Grand Slam Track Circuit designed to further connecting athletes with fans
The unique structure of the inaugural Grand Slam Track Circuit was designed with the aim of further connecting athletes with fans of the sport and to also increase the marketability of athletics.
That’s the word according to event founder and organizer Michael Johnson after Kingston was revealed as host of the first leg of the lucrative event which features 96 of the best athletes competing over four annual meets.
Jjohnson who attended monday’s launch at the Jamaica Pegasus, said fans will be able to see top athletes competing in more than one event.
The event which runs from April 4 to 6 will be held at the National Stadium next year.
National record holder Ackera Nugent, two-time world championships 400 meter hurdles bronze medallist Rushell Clayton and Olympic finalist roshawn clarke are the jamaicans confirmed thus far to take part in the inaugural season.
