JDF working with international partners to locate 2 missing Jamaican fishermen
The Jamaica Defence Force, JDF is working with authorities in Belize, Honduras, and Guatemala to locate 2 Jamaican fishermen who went missing at sea last Tuesday.
The fishermen reportedly departed in a blue and red vessel from Middle Cay in the Pedro Banks destined for the Belmont area in Westmoreland, but ran out of fuel.
The JDF was contacted to provide assistance.
Between Tuesday October 29 and Friday November 1, both air and maritime assets were deployed in search of the men.
The search was expanded to the south, south-western and western areas of Jamaica.
The JDF also sought assistance from the Cayman Islands Coast Guard and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to locate the distressed vessel.
However, after an extensive search, there has been no sign of the fishermen or the vessel.
The JDF says it continues to work with international partners to locate the men.
Any sighting should be reported to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre at (876) 967-8193.
