BITU and Labour Ministry to meet again next week to discuss issues affecting Decameron Resort workers
Representatives of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union, BITU and the Labour Ministry are to meet again early next week to discuss wage and other employment related issues affecting workers at the Decameron Ramada All-Inclusive Resort, in St. Ann.
This follows an initial meeting between the union and representatives of the ministry and hotel, yesterday.
Speaking with Irie FM News last evening, Vice President of the BITU Rudolph Thomas said workers who are restive, have been asked to delay taking industrial action at this time.
He said one of the issues is that in some cases, skilled workers are getting the same salary as unskilled workers.
Mr. Thomas is hoping that next week’s meeting will be fruitful.
This incident follows a major protest two weeks ago by workers at Royalton Negril in Westmoreland, also over wage concerns.
