Deandra Dottin among the nominees for ICC Women’s Player of the month
The swashbuckling West Indies batter Deandra Dottin is among the ICC Women’s Player of the month nominees for October.
Dottin returned from retirement to make an impact with both bat and ball, as the West Indies made it into the semifinals of the ICC Womens T20 World Cup tournament for the first time since 2018.
She piled up 120 runs at a fiery strike rate of 162.16 – the best at the tournament and she also notched five wickets across as many games.
In a must-win group stage fixture against England, the right-handed batter’s 19-ball-27 pilotted the West Indies to victory.
Sottins standout performance at the tournament came against New Zealand in the semi-finals when she snapped four wickets and almost took her team into the final with a power-packed 33-run innings, which saw her blast three sixes in an over.
Meanwhile, South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt and New Sealands 24 year old alrounder Melie Kerr are the other nominees.
