Kingston man sentenced to over 50 years in prison following robbery

A Kingston man was sentenced to over 50 years imprisonment yesterday following a robbery in Denham Town, 4 years ago.

He is Roshawn Samuels otherwise called ‘son son’ of Tivoli Gardens.

Reports are that on Monday, April 6, 2020 a police team acting on information went to a robbery scene.

Upon seeing the police, two men fitting the description of robbers ran.

The police gave chase and one of the men reportedly opened fire at them before escaping.

Following an investigation, Samuels was taken into custody in January 2021 where he was later charged with shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm.

The matter was placed before the supreme court in July this year and Samuels was found guilty of the offences.

Yesterday, Samuels was sentenced to 15 years and 2 months each for 3 count of shooting with intent; totalling 45 years and 6 months, and 10 years and 2 months for illegal possession of firearm.

The sentences are to run concurrently.
