Workers at PICA reportedly contemplating industrial action over reclassification exercise
Workers at the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) are reportedly contemplating taking industrial action if issues relating to a recent reclassification exercise are not resolved.
It’s reported that the workers became restive after receiving their October salaries and realizing that junior and senior workers in various departments were placed in the same salary band.
They are represented by the National Workers Union (NWU).
General Secretary of the NWU Granville Valentine explained that the workers were placed at the same level on the pay scale, regardless of qualification, tenure and performance.
Mr. Valentine noted that efforts are being made to resolve the issue.
