7 people were shot, 5 fatally in Rockfort, Kingston Eastern, last evening.

The names of the deceased have not been released.

Reports are that at around 8:50 pm, the group was at a football game in the community when gunmen opened fire hitting them.

The police were alerted and they were taken to hospital where 5 were pronounced dead and the others were treated.

Investigations continue.

In the meantime, member of parliament for East Kingston and Port Royal Phillip Paulwell has condemned the brutal attack.

Mr. Paulwell described the attack, which tragically claimed the lives of five individuals and left others wounded, as a heinous act of violence against the community.

He emphasized the need for increased security in the area and said he has spoken with minister of National Security, Dr Horace Chang to ensure a swift apprehension of those responsible.
