INDECOM appeals for witnesses to 2 shootings in Hanover and Kingston to provide information

The Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM, has appealed for witnesses to 2 separate shooting incidents in Hanover and Kingston, to provide information.

The incidents occurred in Montpelier, Hanover on Saturday October 12, and near the Nelson Mandela Park in Half Way Tree, Kingston on Tuesday October 15.

In Hanover, 20-year-old Adedra Vidal, otherwise called Kiron of Montpelier was killed during an alleged confrontation with police. 

Upset relatives of Vidal and residents of the community staged a protest yesterday, claiming that the young man was not a criminal and that he was killed at his home in cold blood.

And in Kingston, a man was wounded during an alleged confrontation with police.

it’s reported that the man brandished a knife at the cops. 

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. 

INDECOM said both incidents have received significant media attention, to include conflicting reports of the actions taken by all concerned.

Members of the public are being reminded of the importance of independent witness information in the investigative process.

As such, INDECOM is seeking the public’s assistance with the provision of any photos, videos, or information available on incidents involving members of the security forces.

INDECOM specifically called on the original maker of any video recording of incidents to contact the agency.

Witnesses to incidents involving the security forces may also visit the nearest INDECOM office, to provide known information which will be useful to the investigation, to include, providing a statement on the incident.

INDECOM is assuring family members and the general public that a thorough investigation is being conducted and that all reasonable and necessary investigative lines of enquiry are being explored.
