Parliamentarian Everald Warmington has declared that he will not support another budgetary allocation for the Integrity Commission unless an audit is done on the agency, before next March.

Everald Warmington raised questions about how funds allocated to the anti corruption agency are spent, during a meeting of the Standing Finance Committee in Parliament yesterday.

The committee was deliberating the supplementary estimates.

Mr. Warmington noted that, in the budget, the commission has been allocated billions of dollars, and queried of Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke, if part of the funds was used to hire an overseas forensic auditor to examine statutory declarations. 

Dr. Clarke pointed out that Mr. Warmington’s query would be better suited for posing to the commissioners, via parliament’s oversight committee. 

The Finance Minister said the government provides some entities with line item budgetary allocations, but it’s up to the entity to determine how the funds are used.  

Mr. Warmington then stated that he will not agree to the budget for the Integrity Commission because the agency has not been audited.
