Expect increased rainfall across Jamaica this week – Met Service

There will be increased rainfall across the island this week, starting today.

This as a tropical wave across Hispaniola, is projected to bring unstable weather conditions to Jamaica today through to Friday.

The tropical wave is expected to merge with a developing area of low pressure southwest of the island by tonight.

The Met service says this area of disturbed weather is expected to impact Jamaica for the remainder of the week.

The forecast is for cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, to affect sections of most parishes, especially southern parishes, beginning this afternoon through to Friday morning.

Strong gusty winds are also expected especially across southern parishes.

Fishers and other marine interests, especially those inshore and offshore the south coast, should exercise extreme caution as sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers, thunderstorms, and strong gusty winds.
