Concern raised about young children being diagnosed with cancer

Concern has been raised about the high number of young children being diagnosed with cancer in the country.

According to Paediatric Haematologist Oncologist Dr. Kadine Origgio most of Jamaica’s children who have cancer are between ages 1 and 4 years.

She added that every year, some 35 new patients are admitted at the Bustamante Hospital for Children in Kingston.

She said between 2011 and 2015, the hospital saw patients from Kingston and St. Andrew, Clarendon, St. Catherine and Westmoreland.
