Mutabaruka’s ‘Black Attack’ among 75 Reggae projects for Grammy consideration
IRIE FM’s Mutabaruka’s latest project, “Black Attack,” is among 75 Dancehall and Reggae projects submitted for Grammy consideration ahead of the 67th annual Grammy Awards next year.
Produced by legendary dub master/producer Mad Professor, Black Attack has 14 tracks and is Mutabaruka’s first album in 14 years.
Other Reggae and Dancehall projects submitted include Spice’s “Mirror 25,” Shenseea’s “Never Gets Late Here,” Etana’s “Nectar of the Gods,” Romain Virgo’s “The Gentle Man,” Bugle’s “Apex,” Govana’s “Legacy,” Dexta Daps’ “Trilogy,” Masicka’s “Generation of Kings,” Rygin King’s “Therapy,” Vybz Kartel’s “Party With Me,” Teejay “I Am Chippy”, and Dean Fraser’s “Sax In Dub” among others.
However, with first-round voting now open, only 5 or 6 of the 75 eligible submissions this year will make the cut to vie for the Best Reggae Album when the nominees are announced next month.
The 67th annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 2, 2025, in Los Angeles.
