Government repatriates 20 Haitians who arrived in Jamaica on Sunday
The 20 Haitians who landed in Portland on Saturday were sent back to their country last night.
Reports indicate that a baby and three women were among the group.
Irie FM News received an update from the Ministry of National Security this morning.
In response to this news, human rights advocate Malene Alleyne stated that the government’s actions are contrary to the constitution as the Haitians were not granted access to an attorney.
She called on the media, the Bar Association, and civil society to stand against the actions of the government.
She said she will be taking all necessary actions following this incident.
