8 deaths this weekend push Jamaica’s road fatality count to 288 since the start of the year

288 people have been killed in road crashes since the beginning of the year.

This includes at least 8 fatalities over the weekend, 5 of whom were motorcyclists.

Among the deceased motorcyclists are 29-year-old twin brothers Kenroy and Vinroy Miller, who crashed head-on along the Spot Valley Main Road in St. James on Saturday.

Other fatal incidents on Saturday involved single casualties in St. Elizabeth, Manchester, Portland and along the Berkshire Main Road in Westmoreland.

Additionally, two fatal crashes occurred on Friday, one in St. Ann and the other along the Cave Main Road in Westmoreland.

Vice Chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones expressed concern over the rising number of road deaths.

He says efforts continue to reduce road deaths.
