Jamaican contingency in Haiti safe and engaged in Multi-National Security Mission

The Jamaican contingency deployed to Haiti is safe and is actively engaged in establishing the planning and command structure of the multi-national security support mission in the country.

The team, which departed the island on September 12, consists of 20 Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldiers and 4 Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) police officers.

They joined a team of approximately 400 Kenyan soldiers who were already in Haiti.

Providing an update on the team, JDF Chief of Defence Staff Vice Admiral Antonette Wemyss Gorman said the team arrived safely and has been fully integrated into the mission.

The officers and soldiers are supporting humanitarian efforts and helping to stabilize the situation amid ongoing political and security challenges, in Haiti.
