PNP supporters stage protest calling for by-election to be held in the Morant Bay division

Supporters of the People’s National Party (PNP) staged a protest at the entrance of the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation today demanding that the by-election in the Morant Bay division be held.

The seat became vacant following the death of Rohan Bryan in April this year.

The by-election would have been due three months after the councillor’s passing, but the government passed an amendment extending the time, by three months.

The additional three months have also expired.

Speaking in an interview with IRIE FM News today, Minority Leader in the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation and Councillor for the White Horses division, Hubert Williams, said the time has come for the by-election to be called.

Mr. Williams said he will continue to protest, until the by-election is called.
