Holness defends his administration’s stewardship of Jamaica’s economy

In the face of criticism from stakeholders, Prime Minister Andrew Holness is again defending his administration’s stewardship of Jamaica’s economy.

According to the Prime Minister, the many criticisms being meted out against his administration are baseless.

Speaking at the Dr. Barry Wint memorial scholarship award ceremony in Kingston on Friday morning, he maintained that his administration’s management of the economy will help to propel national wealth.

He noted that though investments are being made, it will take time for change to be fully realized.

The Prime Minister said his administration’s prudent management of the economy contributed to the country’s public health budget increasing by 140% between 2016 and this financial year.

The increase, he said, has paved the way for important investments in the healthcare sector.

He pointed to the building of hospitals which are designed to meet international standards.
