Some vendors disappointed with tolling delay for May Pen to Williamsfield highway leg

Some vendors in Clarendon and Manchester have expressed disappointment with the continued delay of tolling on the May Pen to Williamsfield Highway.

Yesterday, the National Road Operating and Constructing Company, NROCC said the tolling which was scheduled to start today, has been delayed.

The new date has not yet been announced.

Vendors on the May Pen to Porus main road told reporters that since traffic moved from that roadway to the toll-free highway last September, their businesses have been suffering.

Heyward Mclean, a fruit vendor at Whitney Turn in Clarendon believes that once a toll is implemented some motorists will return to the old road.

Meanwhile, Leroy Clemmence who operated a bar at Scott’s Pass says he had to close the establishment, due to a lack of customers.
