JPS says customers in Butt Up, Manchester should receive power by tomorrow; restoration efforts still underway in St. Elizabeth

Director of Corporate Communications at the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) Winsome Callum says customers in Butt Up, Manchester should receive power by tomorrow.

Her assurance comes after residents protesting the lack of electricity, used debris and downed trees to block roads in the community this morning.

They also claimed that after enquiring about the restoration efforts, the JPS informed them that their community had already received power.

When probed by IRIE FM news, Ms. Callum said there was a misunderstanding as there is one other community in the parish with the same name.

In the meantime, Ms. Callum noted that efforts are still underway to restore full power to St. Elizabeth.

This is as customers in Holland Bamboo and Santa Cruz also mounted blockades this morning to register their frustration over restoration delays.

This week, JPS told IRIE FM news that it was on track to meet the August 12 timeline for full power restoration following disruptions caused by the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July 3.
