OUR to issue directive for JPS to comply with timelines given for the full restoration of power following Hurricane Beryl
The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) says it will issue a directive for the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) to comply with timelines given for the full restoration of power following the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
Speaking at this morning’s Post Cabinet Briefing, Director General of the OUR Ansord Hewitt said JPS has maintained the August 12 deadline to have power restored to all areas impacted by the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
Mr Hewitt said if the dates are not met, JPS will be required to show that it took all reasonable steps to have secured compliance.
According to Mr Hewitt JPS says it has not yet restored power to all customers because of impacted powerlines, geographical terrain and access issues.
He said the OUR will be investigating these claims.
