West Indies captain Kraig Brathwaite highest placed West Indies batsman

West Indies captain Kraig Brathwaite enters the third and final test against England tomorrow as the highest placed West Indies batsman. 

This after climbing two slots to 40th position, in the latest release of the MRF Tyres/International Cricket Council (ICC) Mens battig rankings, following scores of 48 and 47 in the second test, which the West Indies lost by 241 runs. 

Wicketkeeper/batsman Joshua De Silva was rewarded for his first innings score of 82 in that match, as he jumped seven places to 61st, while Jason Holder’s 27 and 37 saw him inched up two places to 70th. 

The maiden test century of 120 runs by the 31 year old Dominican Kavem Hodge in the second test  propelled him 21 places up to 75th, one spot behind Kyle Mayers, who, despite being out of action, remains in 74th. 

Alick Athanaze held firm in 77th, while the out of favour Jamaican Jermaine Blackwood in 50th position , Tagenarine Chanderpaul  at 83rd , Roston Chase lies three places lower at 86th, and another Jamaican Kirk Mckenzie 100 completes the list of Caribbean batsmen in the top 100.

On the bowling rankings Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales made progress in the climb, with Joseph moving up two places to 33rd  and Seales moved up 10 places to 34th.
