Linemen to support JPS restoration work have begun to arrive on the island

Linemen who will support electricity restoration work across Jamaica have begun to arrive on the island.

The Jamaica Public Service, (JPS), confirmed that workers from Guyana and Belize are already in the country.

The workers are expected to help ramp up the pace of electricity restoration across the island in the coming days.

They will initially be assigned to St. Elizabeth, the parish hardest hit by Hurricane Beryl.

Meantime, linemen from other regional countries are expected to arrive throughout this week.

Last week, JPS noted that it was finalizing details of the support that energy companies in the region will provide for its hurricane beryl restoration efforts.

It said discussions are ongoing with other utility companies, which were to confirm the availability of their teams early this week.
