New Forest residents stage protest over prolonged lack of electricity
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is facing increased pressure to speed up electricity restoration, post Hurricane Beryl, with yet another protest by frustrated residents.
Today’s protest was by residents of New Forest in Manchester.
The placard bearing residents blocked a section of the Alligator Pond main road, in their bid to get the attention of JPS.
They complained that light has returned to neighbouring communities and the lack of power in their area is becoming unbearable.
They pointed out that it’s costly to keep a generator going.
They also said mosquitoes have taken over the community and they need electricity to help shield themselves from bites.
