88% of JPS customers and 97% of major health facilities now have electricity
88 percent or over 609,000 Jamaica Public Service (JPS) customers now have electricity.
This as power restoration efforts continue following the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
In an update this morning, the JPS said 97% of hospitals and major health facilities islandwide are back on the grid.
The JPS also noted that it has completed assessments of all power plants, as well as assessed 90% of transmission lines.
Energy Minister Daryl Vaz said on Monday, that power is expected to be restored fully to all parishes except St. Elizabeth by Saturday.
Restoration efforts in St. Elizabeth, which was badly damaged during the hurricane, is to be completed by next month.
