Approximately 150,000 JPS customers still without electricity

The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says approximately 534,000 customers have access to electricity, so far.

JPS has a total of 692,000 customers. This means approximately 158,000 customers remain without electricity.

JPS’ Corporate Communications Manager, Winsome Callum gave the update to IRIE FM news this morning.

She said though JPS teams are working non-stop to restore power to customers islandwide, the current restoration figure is not where the company wants it to be.

Ms. Callum also noted that while repairs have started in St. Elizabeth, it will take some time for most of the parish to be restored.

St. Elizabeth is among three southern parishes said to have received the brunt of Hurricane Beryl.

Several communities in St. Ann were reconnected to the grid this morning.
