West Indies Test cricketers vists His Royal Highness King Charles
The West Indies Test cricketers were special guests of His Royal Highness King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on the weekend ahead of the opening game of the upcoming three-Test series against England at Lord’s on Wednesday.
During the visit His Majesty enjoyed time spent alongside captain Kraigg Brathwaite and the entire Windies squad. In addition to interest in the upcoming match His Majesty also expressed his care and concern for the Caribbean region following the devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl.
Brathwaite said “We were honoured to be invited and it was a great opportunity for the whole team to be here. Hurricane Beryl has been devastating but we want to make West Indians proud and put a smile on their faces during these tough times.”
The Windies in their lone warm up game ahead of the upcoming Richards-Botham Test series played to a draw with a First Class Counties Select XI at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham.
The second Test is at Trent Bridge from July 18-25 and the third Test is at Edgbaston from July 26-30.
