JPS assures it’s working to restore power to several parishes

Persons living in St. Ann, Kingston & St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Portland, St. Thomas, St. James, St. Mary, and Trelawny should begin to see their electricity being restored today.

This, as the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) continues its power restoration efforts across the island, following the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

JPS’ Director of Corporate Communications, Winsome Callum told IRIE FM News that as of this morning, 45% of customers had received power.

This figure, she added, has grown significantly throughout the day.

Ms. Callum also noted that damage assessments are still being conducted across the island to ensure that it is safe to restore power to certain areas.

Meanwhile, Ms. Callum said JPS teams are focusing on getting power to entities that provide critical services in Hanover and Westmoreland.

She also noted that the business and manufacturing sectors will get power soon.
