JPS pauses restoration services in interest of workers’ safety
The Jamaica Public Service, (JPS), has put a pause on the restoration of electricity services in the interest of the safety of its teams.
This, as thousands of Jamaicans are reportedly without power.
Supply is impacted in several parishes due to trees that have fallen on power lines, among other issues.
Up to mid-afternoon, the utility provider had been working to restore supply to customers who lost service.
But it said with the effects of Hurricane Beryl becoming more serious, it had to pause restoration, as it had become unsafe to continue working.
The company urged customers to continue making their reports using the my JPS mobile app, while noting that it is on standby to start power restoration as soon as it is safe to do so, after the passage of the hurricane.
