Several roadways in Portland and St. Thomas impacted by rainfall and heavy winds
As the impacts of Hurricane Beryl are being felt primarily in the eastern section of the island, several roadways in Portland and St. Thomas are being affected by rainfall and heavy winds associated with the system.
Videos on social media show waves crashing onto the Long Bay main road in Portland and the Rosselle main road in St. Thomas.
Communication Manager at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw told IRIE FM News that the situation is expected to deteriorate further.
He said the agency is monitoring the situation.
Noting that Jamaica is under a 12 hour curfew, Mr. Shaw reminded citizens that only essential workers should be on the roadways.
