Jamaicans abroad worried about loved ones
Some Jamaicans living abroad say they are worried about the safety and well-being of their loved ones on the island.
This as Hurricane Beryl has begun to impact Jamaica.
The Category 4 system is projected to bring extremely dangerous winds, storm surge, widespread rainfall and thunderstorms.
Some sections of the country are already experiencing rainfall.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, Nicole, a Jamaican mother in the United States (U.S. ) says she is concerned about her daughter’s well-being.
Nicole explains that her 24-year-old daughter is facing her first hurricane alone in a flood-prone area.
She says her daughter has been briefed on the appropriate evacuation measures, including the location of shelters.
The woman notes that Jamaicans living in the U.S. are hopeful that Hurricane Beryl’s impact is not as devastating as is being projected.
She is urging Jamaicans to take the system seriously and work together to keep each other safe.
