A 12-year-old female student of the Ocho Rios High School in St. Ann is hospitalized in serious but stable condition, following a shooting incident at the institution, this afternoon.

Head of the St. Ann Police, Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell says at about 12: 45 PM, the girl was shot in the thigh, after a gun which a 14-year-old male student brought to school went off.

He says the boy was taken into custody.

The firearm was also seized.
